Jeanne had a long narrow bed between the sidewalk and her home that led to her front door. It didn’t have much going for it, so I placed a bright blue container at the end of it to give it some visual punch. I then planted colorful plants including heuchera, hellebore, and impeditum. The final piece was planting sarcococca – a wonderfully fragrant plant that blooms in the dark, boring days of winter.
