After tackling the family room conversion and completing the new container design, the family asked me to design a new landscape. Their existing landscape did not have many plants in it and most of the planting beds were overgrown with weeds and stressed plants. I recommended we clean out and enlarge the existing planting beds and then plant full sun, low maintenance shrubs and colorspots. After adding large boulders to break up the flat horizontal landscape, we planted spirea, abelia, ornamental grasses, flax, and other plants to provide year round color and interest. The final step was to place a bubbling urn fountain by the front door to provide a focal point. The urn repeats the colors in the planted containers and its design looks great with water cascading down its sides. The landscape was installed in June 2009.
